What This Code Means
If your business buys goods from manufacturers or importers and sells them to retailers or other businesses, without specialising in one product category, this is the right code. It is commonly used by trading companies, import/export businesses and general wholesale distributors. Businesses that also sell directly to consumers should consider adding a retail code (47 series) as a secondary SIC code.
Businesses That Use This Code
- General wholesale distributors
- Cash and carry businesses
- Wholesale merchants dealing in mixed goods
- Import/export businesses trading various product lines
